Rvsm requirements

Within RVSM airspace, air traffic control (ATC) separates aircraft by a minimum of 1,000 feet vertically between flight level (FL) 290 and FL 410 inclusive. RVSM airspace is special qualification airspace; the operator and the aircraft used by the operator must be approved by the Administrator. In order to operate your aircraft in RVSM airspace, both the operator and the aircraft itself must conform to the requirements contained in 14 CFR Part 91 Appendix G. Following the trail, we find In 1997 the FAA issued a Final Rule establishing requirements for operations of U.S.-registered aircraft in airspace designated as Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) airspace. RVSM refers to airspace between flight level (FL) 290 and FL 410, with assigned altitudes separated by a minimum of 1,000 feet rather than the 2,000-foot minimum The RVSM maintenance programme shall outline procedures to maintain aircraft in accordance with the requirements. The approved RVSM maintenance programme may be a stand-alone or part of the standard aircraft maintenance programme. RVSM maintenance programme elements should be specific to the operator and aircraft for which Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) is defined as the reduction of vertical space between aircraft from 2,000 to 1,000 feet at flight levels from 29,000 feet up to 41,000 feet.

RVSM Monitoring supports the safety assessment and safety oversight function that is required with implementation of RVSM Airspace. Aircraft operators wishing to utilize the RVSM Airspace must RSVM is a global standard and requires that aircraft operating between flight levels 290 and 410 (inclusive) be RVSM approved. Monitoring an aircraft’s height-keeping performance is an important part of the RVSM approval process, as it supports the safety assessment and safety oversight function that is required with RVSM implementation. This change allows for operations in RVSM airspace immediately, eliminating the delay associated with the LOA application process. On-Going Requirements.

Ahmad, Mustafa - Continuing Airworthiness - OATD

Describe the pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight procedures required for operations in RVSM airspace. RVSM calls for special attention to every maintenance activity that is performed on the aircraft. For safety and compliance, it is critical for technicians to be aware of all the RVSM maintenance requirements and regulations that qualify an aircraft for RVSM approval. By the end of this course, technicians will be able to: consistent with the requirements of RVSM.
